• Ham: e-mail that is not spam.
• A Bayesian filter looks at individual words (or "tokens") in a message and "weighs" them for their frequency of appearance in spam versus their frequency of appearance in general, non-spam e-mail; when the weights of all these words are combined using the Bayes equation, the result is an estimate of the probability that a message is spam.
• These records usually have special meanings for a particular mail service and may not used or understood by other mail servicesm which is why they are considered experimental header lines and not standard features of SMTP.
• Email that is both unsolicited and bulk unsolicited refers to email sent to users who did not specifically and in advance request to receive that email.
• Unsolicited personal email is not abusive, it is perfectly acceptable to send an email to anyone for whom you have an email address if they have not specifically asked you not to send them email.
• Solicited bulk email is also not abusive -- many people sign to get announcements from a company or organization, or to participate in a bulk email list.
• These sites are not necessarily spam sites, but the list is provided so that you may choose not to accept email directly from them.
• Spyware - This is a generic term that described annoying software which is downloaded onto your computer - normally without your permission.
• What is frustrating is the fact that there are no total solutions out there to get rid of all spam once and for all, besides not using the internet.
• Some spammers do not even pay a penny for sending these batches of spam, they have bot networks doing the work for them.
