No Spam
- Some ignorebots (program that handles email sent to an abuse@ address by sending a complacent reply) send a message indicating that the spammer is not abusing the ISP's rules or that the ISP has no rules against spam or in some other way indicates that no action will be taken.
- A derogatory term for unsolicited bulk email, bulk email that the recipient did not ask to receive.
- Any unsolicited commercial email (UCE) and unsolicited bulk email (UBE) that a recipient does not want to receive is considered spam.
- Nowadays, hard-core spammers seldom claim to obey any laws regarding their behavior.
- The e-mail address that appears in the "Return-Path:" field of the customary e-mail header indicates the address that should be notified in case of later trouble delivering the mail.
- Open proxies now account for the vast majority of spam mail transmissions, as they make the mail much more difficult to trace to its ultimate source.
- You should never respond to or unsubscribe from spam email, you should use multiple email addresses, and you should not give your email address to companies you do not trust.
- 1618, the spam must contain full contact info at the start and make no attempt at hiding its origin.
- Spam is considered all unsolicited commercial email (uce) and unsolicited bulk email (ube) that a recipient does not want to receive.
- A mailing list to which the mail recipient is not added unless he makes an explicit prior request is called opt-in.
- When the mail host queries a DNSBL for a particular host name or address, it receives not an IP address, but a coded answer resembling an IP address.
- The code indicates the blocklist's opinion of the address in question, in particular whether the address is implicated in spam and should not be trusted.
- Generally a blocklist is not used by end-users, but is instead queried by mail hosts using DNSBL procedures in order to reject or tag probable spam messages at the time they are offered for delivery.
- Spam is not only limited to one medium only, spam is a much bigger problem than most people realise.
