According to wikipedia, in the year 1987 there are about 600 spam emails, in 2005 the number increase to 30 billion per day. In 2007 there are about 90 billion spam emails per day. Spammers like it too since it can be hard to trace back to their operations (espcecially if they work out of cafe or pub with internet access). Anti-spam software will spare you the trouble of clearing your inbox each morning, not only will you not have to manually delete junk mail, you can also block specific senders, thereby preventing the mails being resent to you in the future. CAN SPAM is the name a bill signed into federal law by U. Bush in late 2003, intended to make spamming a federal crime within the United States. Since base64 can be applied to pure text as well as binary or mixed data, and since it will disguise the text content of the data, it is often used by spammers to hide the content of their messages from lazy spam filters.
