There are many good and not so good spam filters out there for outlook.
A good spam filter should not only block your unwanted mails, but should also prioritize your wanted mail.
A government study put the cost of spam to organizations in the United States at $10 billion a year and growing!A blacklist is a list of e-mail addresses from which a user does not wish to receive mail; it may be used as part of a spam filter to hide or discard messages from addresses that appear on the list.
Blacklists are not a terribly effective form of spam filter as they usually do not block or reject e-mail as much as merely route it to some destination of the user's choice (like the trash can).
Many spam emails are often sent out from a army of zombie pc's (computers that have been hijacked by spammers) that leave no trace back to the original sender.
Spammers will often relay spam through third-party systems in order to hide the point of origin.
This is done to trick users into reading messages they would otherwise delete, to evade automated spam-filtering software, and to make it difficult to complain about spam.
