What's the difference between a spam blocker and a spam filter? A spam filter organizes email identified as spam into folders so that you may respond to them as you wish.
A spam blocker prevents you from receiving most spam so that you won't have to take the time to delete them.
The latter is usually favored by individuals who prefer not to deal with spam at all.
Challenge Response - a method of blocking spam which requires the sender of the email to manually respond to a verification message sent to them.
Often referred to as simply a "dialup", a dialup connection is the main way that a spammer connects to the internet, usually by using some unwitting isp.
It is called a dialup because the connection is made over the phone lines, and the spammer must dialup the isp to make a connection.
